Charley Rude

Charley Rude is an uninhibited exploration of my life. It is a celebration of my identity, my truth, and the diverse ways in which they manifest. I have cast off labels, boundaries, and expectations so that I may speak with the fullness of my artistic voice.  No medium is off limits, nor any idea outside my oeuvre, so long as it serves the narrative of my work.

PHOTOGRAPHY

  • My photography straddles the line between truth and contrivance. It is an attempt to capture a moment of raw emotion against a well-designed setting.

DRAWING

rawing is and forever will be my first love. I am most at peace when I draw.  It is a form of meditation. I leave and the work arrives.

GALLERY COMING SOON

In moments of confusion, I turned to painting. I observe the world, internalize it, and then re-create it in paint, allowing my point of view to shape the narrative.  I paint to understand the world around me.

PAINTING

Working in three dimensions is a love affair with materials.

Repurposed Art at the Everhart Museum

December 6, 2025–January 3, 2026

In recent years, cardboard recycling and repurposing has skyrocketed, as it is being used in ever more practical and artistic ways. Repurposed shines a light on the possibilities when we save this valuable resource from landfills and make use of it in place of traditional artistic mediums.

From material for sculptures, to canvases for painting, cardboard can live a second (or third) life as something new and wonderful. It’s a cheap, accessible, and environmentally-friendly way to create.

For this exhibition, created in partnership with Lackawanna County Arts & Culture, several prominent Northeastern Pennsylvania artists have utilized cardboard in unique and inspired ways, revealing the true potential of a material that is often overlooked in the art community.

Ornamentation is a large part of how I express myself. Wearable art allows me to become a walking talking sculpture.
